Jinny Avery was born July 9, 1928 to Arista and Theodore Balke in White Hall, MT and raised in Belgrade, MT. She graduated in 1946 from Belgrade High School. She married Bob Avery on June 4, 1949. They moved to Spokane as newlyweds and Mom resided in Spokane the rest of her life. Jinny passed away January 9, 2011 in Spokane Valley, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jim Balke in Belgrade, MT. Jinny is survived by her sister, Evelyn Ananias of Puyallup, WA; four children, Shelley Loy of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Mitch Avery of Rathdrum, ID, Candy Taylor and Brian Avery of Spokane, WA; seven grandchildren, Rhonda, Dustin, Ryan, Lacey, Ashley, Wyatt and Trapper; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jinny loved her work as a checker and looked forward to seeing her customers daily for 20 years at Rosauers and retired in 1992. After retirement, she was able to really delve into the things she loved. She always looked forward to trying something new. She traveled on many tours with her friends and lived for dancing, as well as, digging in her beautiful garden and yard. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and crafts. She loved sharing with everyone the crafts she made. Services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 2:00pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA. Donations can be made in Jinny’s name to the, , 225 North Michigan Ave Suite 17, Chicago, IL 60601., We all love you and will miss you.

Alice Eaton Teeter, 97, went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2010 in Mount Vernon, Washington., Alice was born in Ames, Iowa on May 31, 1913 to Dr. William and Mary Anderson. At the age of 2 years she moved with her family to Corvalis, Oregon where her father was a physics professor at Oregon Agricultural College., Alice graduated from Oregon Agricultural College in 1935 with a bachelor’s degree in education. While attending college Alice met her future husband, Donald R. Herrick. They were married in 1936 and lived in Portland, Oregon for 40 years, until his death in 1976., During her life, Alice was proud and privileged to be a wife, mother, and homemaker. She spent her entire life reaching out to people, extending her love and generosity to those in need. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, and adored her three grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren., In 1978 Alice moved to Mount Vernon to be closer to her grandchildren. She met and married Edward Jansen in 1980. Sadly, Edward passed away after 6 months of marriage. Later, friends introduced Alice to Loran Teeter. She and Loran became good friends and were married, enjoying 7 years together before he passed away in 1989., Alice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and her three husbands., She is survived by her two daughters, Andrea and Lee Matteson of Beaverton, Oregon and Sylvia and W.C. ‘Andy’ Anderson of Mount Vernon, Washington; three grandchildren, Ginny Tobin, Susan Steinke, and David Anderson; and 7 great-grandchildren, Sean Tobin, Kristin Steinke, Justin Steinke, Matthew Anderson, Melissa Anderson, Kurtis Anderson and Zachary Anderson., Alice will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her sense of gratitude, her great love for family and friends, and her compassion for the less for the less fortunate., A memorial celebration of life will be held January 15, 2011 at 2PM at Bethany Covenant Church, 1318 South 18th Street in Mount Vernon, Washington.
